1. Where is Parihaka located?It is located between Mt Taranaki and the Tasman Sea, in the North Island of  NZ.TT

2. Fact card 1 includes a metaphor - what is it?

“I am for peace. Let the lions rage, I am still for peace.”

3. Explain the metaphor in your own words, what does it mean? It means that I will not attack anyone even if they want to kill, or hurt me.

4. When did the invasion of Parihaka occur? The  invasion of Parihaka occurred on the 5th November 1881.

5. Summarise fact card 3 in your own words.

The NZ Government the Crown - promised Maori that they could keep their land. But then they broke the promise and started to take the land of the Maori people. The people of Parihaka did some non violent things to protest this. But the Crown got angry and told the Maori that they had to get of the land in 44 days.

6. How do you think the people of Parihaka were feeling when the troops entered their village?they felt scared because they don't know what's going to happen because their leader told them to give them bread and play games.

7. Why do you think John Bryce wanted to keep journalists away from Parihaka when the invasion was taking place?  because they don't want it all over the news

• Our learning story is about 2020 Mars Rover.The  Rover is a machine  that will seek signs of ancient life and collect rock and soil samples for possible return to Earth.It was launched on 30th 2020.

Mars has the biggest volcano in history that we know how .

Mars is known for its red nis. Moses air is dangerous to youmans because of all the radiation.

It weird becos it was not the same. There was no civilization or cities.

Good sleep

How much sleep does a teenager need to get?
A  teenager needs 8-10 hours of good sleep .


What time do you wake up to get to school ?

I wake up at 5:00 am to go for a run and then get ready for school.

What time do you go to sleep on average?

I normally go to sleep at 8:00 pm.

Calculate the times, does this give you enough sleep?

I get a total of 9 hours of sleep.

Quality of Sleep: List four ways you can help your body get a quality night’s sleep ?

 To have a good sleep you can have a shower, brush your teeth, read

and drink some hot milk.

In your own words, why do you think it is important to get a good sleep each night? How do you think this will help you at school?

Mars

Life on Mars

According to NASSA's recent report, any mission to Mars can only leave Earth or return from Mars every twenty-six months. The reason being is because the two planets needs to meet at the

closest point in their orbits.

In terms of its geological features, Scientists studied that Mars is known as the Red Planet because of its colour which caused by large amounts of iron oxide.  

One possible solution about Oxygen on Mars is a machine called MOXIE .

According to the article, if it doesn't rain on Mars the water comes from polar ice caps, but these ice caps are covered in

a thick layer of frozen carbon dioxide.

The people brought their own food, that would need to last for twenty-six months until the next supply rocket

arrives.

My learning journey Hurumanu 4

Hi I am  going to share my learning Story with you.

My Learning Story
Hurumanu4
Name: Sidney Matthews	Teachers: Ms Birtch			Term 2	2020
Reflection: Give at least three examples in each of the boxes below.
What We Did:  Our learning for this Hurumanu was based on 2 stories called Te Taumutu Purakau - The Creation of Tuna and Taniwha and the Rakaia Gorge.  We did tapa cloth.  We did water coloring art
What I Learned:   I learned how to design tapa cloths using natural objects like birds, eel, river, sun, etc.    I Learned Diamante poem   I Learned that I can use salt and water to add on my paints.
My Favorite Part:  Tapa cloth is one favorite because of the process. Water coloring  is my second favorite because of the mess. Weaving is favorite because of the steps .
My Next Steps:  Keep learning more on what other things needed to add on to improve.  Time management -  I need to work according to the time frame and deadline. Bring more ideas and new initiatives on the table.
CARR Values:  Make a statement below describing how you showed each of our CARR values during this Hurumanu.
Commitment I committed very hard to complete my work on time.		Achievement I achieved good feedback and good compliments from my teachers and TA's for the great effort I put into my work.
Resilience Despite how hard the challenges  were, I worked so hard to be a real learner completing my work on time.		Respect I was a respectful learner in school, and being respected is a very important part of my learning.  Having good attitudes towards learning will enable me to achieve high standards as required. In addition to that, students must respect other students' ideas when they work as a group - TEAMWORK!
